I had both hips replaced in 2017 and feel so lucky to have had both operations performed by Mr Maheson at the Cardiff Spire.

Mr Maheson was recommended to me by a Swiss friend who asked her hip surgeon in Zurich who he would recommend in the UK. I am so glad he did!

I hadn't heard of the direct anterior approach before but it seemed to make sense to keep the muscles intact where possible. I was impressed by people's experiences, as detailed on the Cardiff Spire website, and was amazed at how rapidly they all seemed to recover after the direct anterior approach.

The idea of having a hip operation was incredibly daunting but, once i arrived at the hospital, i knew i was in excellent hands.

I had my first hip replacement in April 2017 and my second in December 2017. Both operations were very successful and each time Mr Maheson visited me afterwards in the ward to check on progress. He is a calm and assured presence and takes time to explain any questions.

When my payment still hadn't registered minutes before one operation - and i feared it might be cancelled - he simply said, "Don't worry, i know where you live!"

All the staff are equally friendly, efficient and professional from the nurses through to the anaesthetists and physios. The quality of care is exemplary and i was so glad that i made the journey to Cardiff.

I would like to thank Mr Maheson and all his team for looking after me so well during both my operations.

It is absolutely fantastic to be able to walk again without any stiffness and pain. I'm really looking forward to walking up mountains and rock climbing again.
